Milestones

Since 1973, we have been working to "be everlasting".

Foundation Years

Bakioğlu Holding’s story begins when Bak Ambalaj, the first group company founded by the late Enver Bakioğlu, started to operate in Izmir’s Kahramanlar district in 1973, with the production of printed and unprinted paper bags. Bak Ambalaj leveraged its enhanced machinery park in 1976, expanding its product range to flexo-printed and unprinted coils of food, detergent and garment packaging from polyethylene. In 1980, the Company invested in a rotogravure printing machine in accordance with the changing packaging requirements of our developing country, and introduced the production of high quality printed packaging from micron scale plastic film. Specializing in the packaging industry and gradually growing its business volume, Bak Ambalaj was relocated to its modern facilities in the Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone in Çiğli, Izmir in 1990. Closely following changing consumer preferences and technology, Bak Ambalaj added new investments to its facilities every year, and began to export 25% of its production with accelerating momentum in 1998, as well as acquiring the bread packaging facility in the same year. Still one of Turkey’s Top 500 Industrial Enterprises, Bak Ambalaj operates 4 different facilities in Izmir Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone, and is a key contributor to the export volume of our country by exporting over than 70% of its production, primarily to Western European countries.

Transition to Vertical Integration

Polibak, listed among Turkey's Top 500 Industrial Enterprises, has been producing BOPP and CPP films since 1993 in facilities built on a approximately 170.000 m2 site in Izmir Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone. Its machinery consists of BOPP, CPP modern extrusion lines and their slitting units, as well as metallization units, and it continuously increases its current production capacity exponentially with the addition of each new BOPP line.

Founding of Service Companies

In 1995, Baktrans was established to transport Bakioğlu Holding companies’ export-oriented production, and to provide logistics services to external companies. Considering the need for effective time-management in accordance with the conditions of the time, and the new order created by the globalizing world, Baktrans introduced helicopter transport and expanded the scope of services to include VIP transport, tourist attractions, air taxis, patient transport, photography and video shoots.

In light of the awareness that the only way to closely follow rapidly changing technology is communication, Baknet, which staked its position in the information sector under the trade name Baknet in 2000, began to provide services for Baknet Bilişim and Baknet VIP Havacılık under the name of Baknet as a result of the Baktrans merger as of December 2016.

Having continued its development as Bakioğlu Group of Companies, and consolidated its presence in the flexible packaging sector through its vertical integration structure, the Group took its first step towards institutionalization in 1996 with the establishment of Bakioğlu Holding.

Final Links of Vertical Integration

Providing pre-press gravure processing services Bak Gravür, launched its operations initially as part of the Bakioğlu-Wetzel partnership in 1998. Achieving a first in Turkey, Freshbak operates by investing in Freeze Dry, a technology unparalleled on industrial terms.
